Challenges in doing something new — New firms and the innovation process
Meet Richard Ferguson, associate professor, Head of Department, SLU Department of Economics

All new firms face challenges in establishing a sustainable business, and for new firms introducing innovative products and/or services, the challenges can be even greater. This short talk will raise some of the challenges innovative new firms face in finding a place in the ecosystem and discuss some strategies for navigating networks.

Our speaker this Friday is Richard, who is part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainability research group at the SLU Department of Economics, where he works with issues of small and rural firm development. Richard has taught courses in entrepreneurship, organization, and accounting; his recent research has included a study of business models for innovative rural firms.
