    UltiMat Ultuna matkooperativ

    Ultimat is a local food cooperative based in Uppsala. It is affiliated to Ultuna Students Union and was founded 8 years ago. Ultimat is open to all and is run in both Swedish & English.

    Together they order food directly from local producers close to Uppsala, which is then sold directly to the cooperative´s members. This takes place at SLU at a monthly delivery and gathering of members.

    Meet:Claudia French, Delivery & Newsletter Coordinator at UltiMat. An active member of Ultimat for the past 4 years and on the board for 3 years. Professionally she works as a Language Consultant, but in her free time she is very engaged in local & ecological food networks in Uppsala and want to push this higher up the agenda with organisations such as SLU, UU and Uppsala Kommun.

    Study visit to one of Ultimat´s producers, Potato field in Björklinge.

    Ultimat is a local food cooperative, open to all, based at SLU in Uppsala. It was founded 8 years ago, and is run in both Swedish & English

    The association is run by a board, which is mainly made up of SLU students. Several active members of the cooperative also help as and when needed, on specific projects. Ultimat has over 100 members & social media followers and is currently the only active food cooperative in Uppsala. Most of the produce Ultimat sells is ecological (some Krav), but all is locally produced, using locally-grown ingredients wherever possible.

    Next social event and delivery at UltiMat is Monday 28 March between 17-18 inside the main entrance of Ullshus (Ultuna Campus). Ultimat is holding a fun social delivery, where the members and the producers will get to meet each other and talk. Some produce will be for sale and even to taste at the event. Anyone, also  non-members, is welcome to attend, and come and meet Ultimat. You are welcome if you are curious to know more!

    Collaborations wanted!
    • Ultimat is very interested in collaborating with groups like SLU Future Foods & Urban Futures as well researchers/lecturers at SLU on urban sustainable food models and systems.
    • Ultimat is considering securing funding to run workshops for other groups interested in setting up food cooperatives, both in Uppsala and beyond.
    • Ultimat see themselves very much as part of the solution for local food distribution around Uppsala, and want to engage with others in this important discussion of how to push this forward.More info on:
